Betul Oil plans expansion at its Solapur plant

Betul Oil Limited, central India’s largest solvent extractor, edible oil refiner, manufacturer and trader of de-oiled cakes, animal feeds, specialty ingredients and developer of hybrid seeds, is increasing its capacities at its Solapur plant.

Betul Oil set up the first solvent extraction unit at Betul, Madhya Pradesh in 1981 with a total solvent extraction capacity of 30,000 TPA (100 TPD) and over the years the company set up two additional units at Satna, Madhya Pradesh and Solapur, Maharashtra.

The Solapur plant has the following capacities:

  • Solvent extraction capacity of 97,500 TPA (325 TPD).
  • Refining capacity of 36,000 TPA (120 TPD).
  • Soya lecithin capacity 1,500 TPA (5 TPD).
  • Expellers capacity of 30,000 TPA (100 TPD).
  • Cattle feed unit with a capacity of 30,000 TPA (100 TPD).
  • Hybrid seed and research and development centre
  • Oil seeds warehousing facility of 25,000 MTs
  • 2,000 MTs oil tank farm

Betul Oil has a Cattle feed unit with a capacity of 30,000 TPA (100 TPD) at Solapur, and the company caters to the nearby dairy and poultry farms, located at Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. This unit is strategically located near the highly concentrated poultry belt and allows Betul Oil to greatly reduce its distribution costs.

At the same campus, Betul Oil also has Solvent extraction capacity of 97,500 TPA (325 TPD), Refining capacity of 36,000 TPA (120 TPD), Soya lecithin capacity 1,500 TPA (5 TPD) and Expellers capacity of 30,000 TPA (100 TPD).

Raw materials such as soybean, sunflower, safflower, cotton seed, maize germ, sal seed and kokam seed are easily available in the geographical vicinity of Solapur. The close proximity to JNPT port at
Mumbai allows transfer of imported soya degummed oil for refining and transfer of Betul’s products to the said port for export at lesser costs. Betul also has the flexibility to transport its products from
the Solapur Unit either by road or rail which aids logistics.

Betul Oil intends to increase its existing capacities at Solapur Unit by expanding its edible oil refinery from 36,000 TPA (120 TPD) to 90,000 TPA (300 TPD) and its cattle feed unit from 36,000 TPA (120
TPD) to 90,000 TPA (300 TPD). The idea is to continue enhancement of the company’s capacities to meet the increasing demand for its products.
